New to the Area? Welcome.

What to know about vehicle ownership in Creemore & Simcoe County.

Welcome

You Picked a Great Place to Land.

Whether you've just moved to Creemore, settled near Collingwood, or landed somewhere along the stretch between Stayner and Wasaga Beach — welcome. Simcoe County is a good place to live. The kind of place where people still wave from their cars and small businesses know your name.

But if you're coming from the city, or from out of province, there are a few things about vehicle ownership here that are worth knowing early. Ontario roads — especially rural ones — treat vehicles differently than what you might be used to. And finding the right shop before you need one is the smartest move you can make.

We're Auto Solve, an independent repair shop on Edward Street in Creemore. We've been here since 2013, and we've helped a lot of newcomers get their bearings. This page is a good starting point.

The best time to find a mechanic is before you need one.

Ontario Driving

What Ontario Roads Do to Your Vehicle.

Ontario uses a lot of road salt. A lot. From November through April, every major road in Simcoe County gets treated, and that salt attacks your vehicle's undercarriage, brake lines, exhaust system, and body panels. If you've never dealt with rust before, you will here. Rust proofing isn't optional — it's how you protect your investment.

Then there are the roads themselves. Clearview Township and Mulmur have a significant number of gravel and dirt roads. They're beautiful to drive, but they accelerate wear on suspension components, brakes, and tires. Potholes in spring are a given. Frost heaves shift the road surface under you all winter.

Seasonal tire changeovers are part of life here. Many insurance providers expect winter tires between October and April, and in a region that sees lake-effect snow from Georgian Bay, they're not just a good idea — they're essential. We cover everything you need to know in our winter vehicle prep guide.

The climate is beautiful. Your vehicle just needs a little extra attention.

Finding a Shop

How to Find a Shop You Trust.

When you're new to the area, you don't have the benefit of word-of-mouth yet. Everyone back home had "their guy." Here, you're starting fresh. So here's what we'd tell any friend who asked.

Look for a shop that explains what they find — not just what they want to sell you. A good shop will show you the problem, walk through the options, and let you decide without pressure. We use loaner vehicles so you're never stuck, and we send digital inspection reports so you can see exactly what we see.

Ask about their approach to parts. A trustworthy shop gives you choices — OEM, aftermarket, or recycled — and explains the trade-offs honestly. Ask how they handle routine maintenance versus major repairs. The answer tells you a lot. We've written a more detailed guide on choosing a mechanic if you want to dig deeper.

Trust is earned one visit at a time.

Community

Small Town Shop. Big Standards.

Creemore has about 1,300 people. One main street. A brewery. A few good restaurants. And a community that actually looks out for each other. When we do good work, people tell their neighbours. When we don't, they'd tell them that too. That kind of accountability keeps us honest — and it's exactly why we like being here.

We're a team of four. Every vehicle that comes through our shop gets personal attention from technicians who know what they're looking at. We serve drivers from across the region — Collingwood, Stayner, Wasaga Beach, Nottawa, Mulmur, and everywhere in between. But we operate like a Creemore shop. Straightforward, thorough, no shortcuts.

If you just moved to the area and your vehicle needs anything — a seasonal tire swap, an oil change, a full inspection — bring it by. We'll take care of it, and we'll take the time to answer whatever questions you have about keeping your vehicle in good shape out here.

Welcome to the neighbourhood.
